Translucence in Tableware

Whether throwing by wheel or building by hand, ceramic artist Christine Sirko creates works of porcelain art that can enliven any dining room or kitchen.

Transforming soft clay into solid bowls, platters and other pieces of tableware, Christine turns frequently to glazes featuring copper, chrome and cobalt. Layering these glazes allows the kiln to work its magic to create moving lines and shapes in diverse hues of red and blue.

A former student of Bob Deane and Carol Seymour, Christine, refined her throwing skills and explored glazes fired in gas, electric and raku kilns. Trained as a museum administrator and educator as well as a potter, Christine, has exhibited her work widely in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She also teaches pottery.
